FRP has built an experienced team specifically for
transportation clients. Every member of the group has years of experience
working extensively on design solutions for transportation problems.
Bridge Design
FRP has provided bridge engineering design services since 1952, and has
designed more than 70 new or replacement bridges for public agencies,
industry and private clients. FRP prepares feasibility, location and economic
studies; surveys; engineering (including seismic design); preparation of
construction and R/W Plans; and review of shop drawings and construction
supervision.
Bridge Rehabilitation
Since 1974, FRP has inspected more than 350 bridges in Indiana, preparing
reports of existing conditions and submitting recommendations, cost estimates
and design and construction plans. Initially, bridge repairs were simple
patch and overlay projects. Over the years, as our infrastructure began
showing signs of wear, FRP has been able to fill the need for more innovative
design in repairing bridges. Today, FRP replaces superstructures, widens
bridges, adds spans and does whatever is required to rehabilitate the
structure to meet current and future requirements. Often, the demand for use
of the bridge necessitates keeping the structure open to traffic during
construction. Therefore, FRP develops sensible and workable traffic
maintenance schemes. FRP has also restored several structures to their
original beauty, duplicating ornate limestone and iron work.
Road Design
FRP has been providing road engineering design services since 1952.
Engineering expertise has steadily grown and FRP personnel presently deliver
economical and sound engineering designs for local roads, interstate highways
and full directional interchanges. FRP also prepares feasibility and corridor
location studies as well as location/design study reports. In addition to the
preparation of right-of-way plans, FRP also provides right-of-way engineering
on both federally and locally funded projects.
Road Rehabilitation
FRP has been involved in road rehabilitation projects since 1980 and
interstate highway rehabilitation since 1989. Interstate rehabilitation
projects have included field reconnaissance and the evaluation of all
existing highway features; studies of conformance to current geometric
policies; upgrading highways to current safety standards, including
conformance with clear zone standards; and developing safe maintenance of
traffic schemes.
Hydraulic Design
FRP's experience with hydraulic design originated in the 1950s. What began
with drainage design for road projects and waterway openings for bridge
projects eventually developed into site development and storm sewer design
services for industrial, commercial and institutional clients. Design of
retention ponds, levees, pump stations, dam repair and watershed master
planning followed. In the 1970s, FRP began design of sanitary sewers, lift
stations, force mains and small sewage treatment plants.
